JICA Training 2025
It was an incredible experience to participate in the "Stabilizing Power Systems to Introduce Various Kinds of Renewable Energy" training program held at Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Chubu Center, Japan in January 2025. This program brought together renewable energy practitioners from Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Brazil, Ethiopia (Miraje Fereja), Namibia, and Côte d'Ivoire (Salim SYLLA) to explore how Japan ensures grid stability amid increasing renewable energy integration.
Learning directly from JEPIC about Japan’s power system and from Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. on key challenges—protection, security, quality, and stabilization—provided valuable insights. Additionally, discussions on Japan’s grid code highlighted how rooftop solar PV has been successfully integrated into the national grid, a crucial lesson for Indonesia as it moves toward greater renewable energy adoption. The site visits to Aichi’s electronics manufacturing plant, Tahara Solar Wind Power Plant, and Yokkaichi Biomass Power Plant offered firsthand exposure to real-world renewable energy operations.
A heartfelt thank you to Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), JEPIC, Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. and fellow participants for the enriching discussions and shared knowledge. I look forward to applying these lessons to support Indonesia’s energy transition!
